Tata Nexon EV will become the cheapest electric SUV of India.
More and more car manufacturer are moving towards the electrification of vehicles and receiving quite a good response as well.Take MG eZS which even before its official launch, has bagged around 2,300 bookings while the Kona EV is also going good. Now Tata is bringing their Nexon electric SUV which will undercut both the electric SUVs available in the country and these are some of the rock solid reasons why this battery driven SUV will attract a number of prospective buyers.
1. Connected Car Technology
Like the MG eZS and Hyundai Kona Electric, Tata Nexon also comes with connected car technology, which is first for any Tata car and is likely to be provided in new upcoming Tata cars as well.Nexon Electric can be controlled by the app ZConnect using which the owners can check the current charge level, available range, charging history and also guide to nearest charging station as well as Tata’s service centre. Some of the other features includes remote pre cool and pre heating the car, remote lock and unlock, lamp control and horn activation.Using this, you can also share live location and contact Tata’s technical support as well.
This app also gives instant crash, emergency SOS and panic notifications.Even in case of car theft, owners can contact Tata’s 24×7 call centre and use the remote immobilisation feature.Other notifications including that of geo fencing, harsh braking and sudden acceleration, time fence limits can also be configured using the app.
2. Feature Loaded
Tata Nexon EV’s each and every variant is quite decently loaded. Some of the top features of Nexon EV are electric sunroof, leather seat upholstery and steering wheel, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, connected car technology, wearable key, push start stop button with keyless entry, fully automatic ac control, front and rear power windows, 16 inch alloy wheels, 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with all the modern connectivity supports.
3. No Compromise on Safety
Tata Nexon scored 5 stars in Global NCAP safety test rating and the electric version of Nexon is based on its facelift and continues to be based on highly rigid platform with high strength steel.Safety features of Nexon electric includes dual frontal airbags, ABS with EBD and corner stability control, rear parking sensors with reverse parking camera and guidelines, front fog lamps with cornering function, automatic rain sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.
4. Range and Performance
Tata Motors offers Nexon electric with a total range of 312 km on a full charge of battery. If we compare it with rivals, is pretty decent, given Hyundai Kona EV offers range upto 452 km while the ZS electric provides range of 340 km on a full charge of battery.Tata also claims 0-60 mph in around 4.6 seconds and it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 9.9 seconds which is quick as well.
5. Complete Peace of Mind
With the Nexon Electric, Tata Motors is offering 8 years and 1,60,000 kilometres of warranty on the battery pack.Along with this, the 30.2 kWh battery pack powering the Nexon EV is also IP67 certified as well.Tata Motors have also planned to install 300 DC fast charging stations in 5 cities which includes Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru and for this they have partnered with Tata Power. The installation of these stations will be complete by March 2020 and will further install the charging stations in other cities after the launch.
6. Competitive Pricing
Tata Nexon Electric is a sub4 metre compact SUV while MG’s ZS EV and Hyundai’s Kona electric are above 4 metres so the Nexon EV gets a price advantage here. While both the electric SUVs are priced over Rs. 22 Lakhs, the Nexon EV will be placed in the price bracket of Rs. 15 Lakhs to Rs. 17 Lakhs (Ex Showroom), which makes it really competitive against these two electric cars.
Tata Nexon Electric will be launched in India on January 28, 2020 and at the time of launch it won’t have any direct rivals. While electric SUVs will join this segment in 2021, when Mahindra willl bring the electric version of their compact SUV, XUV300.
