Recently only, Toyota Innova Crysta with BS6 engines was launched in India and the carmakers are also preparing quickly for upgrading their other cars to the latest emission standards as well. The BS6 Innova Crysta MPV was launched just a few days only on January 6, 2020 where the price hike was between Rs. 11,000 and Rs. 43,000 for the petrol variants of the MPV while for the diesel trims, there was a marginal increase between Rs. 39,000 and Rs. 1.12 lakhs depending upon the variant.Even the prices have been confirmed to hike further more as well.
Toyota Innova Crysta has remained the best selling car of the Toyota range but from the past few months, the sales of the popular MPV have gone down by a big margin and this recent increase in the price would further downgrade the sales. So as to pick up the pace again, especially getting the commercial customers, Toyota plans to bring a bi-fuel petrol-cng variant which will surely boost up the sales as well.Along with recent price hike, Toyota Innova Crysta also got rid of 2.8 litre diesel whose upgradation to Bharat stage 6 would incur 4 – 5 lakh increase in price. And this same engine also powers Toyota Fortuner as well.
Now the MPV is offered in a total of two engine options – 1 petrol and 1 Diesel engines. The petrol engine is the BS-VI compliant 2TR-FE 2.7 litre Dual VVT-i drawing power from 5 speed manual and 6 speed automatic transmission unit. The power and torque figures are 166 PS @ 5200 RPM and 245 NM @ 4000 NM respectively. And the second one is a diesel BS-VI compliant 2.3 litre unit with 150 PS @ 3400 RPM and 343 NM @ 1400 – 2800 RPM for the 5 speed manual gearbox and for the 6 speed automatic transmission unit, output figures are 150 PS @ 3400 RPM and 360 NM @ 1400 – 2600 RPM.
The CNG variant will be based on the petrol 2.7 L BS-VI compliant dual VVT-i engine but for the CNG, the output figures would be reduced by a small margin. The CNG variant which will be limited only unto certain variants will only get the option of 5 speed manual transmission.Along with this, Toyota Kirloskar Motors also plans to bring a CNG variant of their sedan, Yaris which currently comes only in a single engine option.
Toyota Innova Crysta BS-VI petrol is priced between Rs. 15.36 Lakhs and Rs. 22.02 Lakhs while the diesel 2.4 L variants of the Toyota MPV falls between the price bracket of Rs. 16.14 Lakhs to Rs. 23.02 Lakhs.Touring sport VX MT costs Rs. 21.97 Lakhs while ZX automatic trims is priced at Rs. 24.06 Lakhs (All Prices, Ex Showroom).
